Harare, Zimbabwe — NetOne’s Group Chief Executive Officer, Engineer Raphael Mushanawani, has declared that the company is positioning itself at the forefront of powering the next generation of connectivity in Zimbabwe.

Speaking at a landmark gathering attended by government officials, industry leaders, and technology experts, Mushanawani emphasized the transformative role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in shaping telecommunications and digital economies across Africa. He noted that while AI is the “next great leap” in human progress, its true potential can only be unlocked through robust and intelligent connectivity — a responsibility NetOne is committed to delivering.

Building Zimbabwe’s Digital Foundations

Mushanawani highlighted NetOne’s mission to build the digital foundations for Zimbabwe’s future economy in line with Vision 2030 and the National Development Strategy 2 (NDS2). He praised the government’s launch of the National AI Policy earlier this year, calling it a “watershed moment” that signals Zimbabwe’s commitment to harnessing emerging technologies for national development.

“NetOne fully embraces this vision,” he said. “Through sustained investment in intelligent networks, we are positioning Zimbabwe not as a spectator, but as a contributor in the global AI revolution.”

Smarter Networks for Sports and Communities

The CEO underscored how AI-driven connectivity is set to revolutionize customer experiences. For fans, AI-powered networks will deliver seamless streaming, real-time updates, and interactive engagement. For athletes and teams, predictive analytics and intelligent connectivity will enhance training, performance monitoring, and fan interaction.

“The future of telecoms will not be defined by faster networks alone. It will be defined by smarter networks — networks that learn, adapt, anticipate, and empower,” Mushanawani said.

Inclusive Digital Transformation

Mushanawani stressed that technology must improve lives and bridge the digital divide rather than widen it. He pledged NetOne’s commitment to ensuring that digital transformation reaches every corner of Zimbabwe, making AI a tool for empowerment, innovation, and inclusion.

“We are not merely connecting devices. We are connecting people to opportunity. Communities to knowledge. Businesses to growth. Zimbabwe to the future,” he concluded.

Powering Zimbabwe’s Digital Future

NetOne’s vision, as outlined by Mushanawani, is clear: to power connectivity, innovation, inclusion, and Zimbabwe’s digital future. With AI and intelligent networks at the core, the company aims to redefine how Zimbabweans, experience and interact with technology in the Fourth Industrial Revolution.

Harare, Zimbabwe — As NetOne celebrates its 30th anniversary, Zimbabwe’s pioneering mobile network operator is not only reflecting on three decades of connecting communities but also spotlighting how its digital transformation is reshaping the nation’s sporting landscape.

From Calls to Stadium Connectivity

When NetOne launched in 1996, mobile phones were a luxury. Today, they are indispensable tools — classrooms, banks, marketplaces, and increasingly, sports hubs. With the rollout of 4G LTE and 5G, NetOne has enabled fans to stream matches live, access instant replays, and engage with their favorite teams in real time. Stadiums across Zimbabwe are becoming digitally enhanced arenas where connectivity ensures that every fan remains part of the action.

Fan Engagement Beyond the Pitch

The company’s commitment to inclusion extends to sports fans nationwide. Through digital platforms, NetOne is creating interactive communities where supporters can vote in live polls, receive personalized content, and even participate in virtual meet-and-greets with athletes. For rural fans, improved connectivity means they can follow their favorite teams without being left behind.

Sports as a Tool for Nation-Building

NetOne’s corporate social responsibility initiatives have long supported education, sports, healthcare, and community development. By equipping schools with digital tools, sponsoring sporting activities such as the annual NetOne Albun Honde Valley Marathon, golf tournaments, and promoting anti-drug campaigns, NetOne is using connectivity to nurture healthier, more engaged communities.

Looking Ahead: The Next 30 Years

As NetOne enters its fourth decade, its mission is clear: to empower Zimbabwe to thrive in the digital age. For sports, this means smarter stadiums, stronger athletes, and more connected fans.

“Connectivity is no longer simply about making calls,” the company’s press statement reads. “It powers education, commerce, healthcare — and it powers sports.”

With AI-driven networks and a vision aligned to Vision 2030, NetOne is positioning itself not just as a telecommunications operator but as a strategic enabler of Zimbabwe’s sporting future.
