DStv’s SuperSport and Serie A of Italy have reached an agreement that will see top-tier Italian football return to the Channel of Champions for the 2018-2019 season, which kicks off on Sunday August 19.

This news comes at a time when arguably one of the greatest forwards of our generation, Cristiano Ronaldo, has joined the Serie A Champions Juventus in a move that is likely to spur demand for the top flight Italian league which already boasts of stars the likes of Gonzalo Higuain, Paulo Dybala and Serjev Milinkovic-Savic to mention a few.

Liz Dziva, publicity and public relations manager of MultiChoice Zimbabwe, said that the move would ensure a continuation of coverage of one of the world’s most popular football leagues on SuperSport.

“SuperSport aims at offering viewers the best football from around the world and the return of Serie A helps fulfil the promise of an unrivalled football offering,” she said.

“SuperSport viewers will be able to watch all 380 matches of the league, which was founded in 1898, and has 20 top Italian teams competing for the championship trophy. Serie A is regarded as one of the best football leagues in the world and it is often described as being the most tactical national league.

The 2017-2018 season was a particularly exciting one and the winning team was uncertain until the end, thanks to an epic duel between Juventus and Napoli throughout the season, and indications are that the coming season may be equally or even more thrilling with the addition of one more world class attacking talent in Cristiano Ronaldo.

“We know from feedback that football fans in Zimbabwe enjoy Serie A almost as much as the English Premiership and there will be great delight to hear that 2018-2019 will be covered in full on SuperSport,” said Ms Dziva.
