South Africa’s premiership side Supersport United has signed former Dynamos shot stopper Washington Arubi on a deal that will see him at the club until 2021.

Arubi signed as a free agent.
The shot-stopper had been somewhat of a forgotten man, having dropped down to South African National First Division side Stellenbosch last season.
Many would agree that Arubi’s stint in South Africa’s second tier league was a status somewhat unbefitting of a man who had spent four years as the undisputed number one at Harare Giants Dynamos FC before earning himself a move to the then SA PSL side University of Pretoria.
And now the 32-year old’s career appears to have been revived once more with SuperSport moving quickly to acquire his services on a free transfer, with his contract at Stellenbosch FC set to expire at the end of June.
Arubi’s agent Jonh Wilson, confirmed the development, adding that the Zimbabwean had worked hard to return to South Africa’s top tier football league.
“Yes, the deal is done, he started with SuperSport yesterday. Washington has worked really hard to get himself back into the PSL, and this wouldn’t have happened without Steve Barker keeping faith in him at Stellenbosch. Washington is grateful for this opportunity and is excited for the challenge at SuperSport.”
