International Wealth Management Company “Carrick Wealth”, who were recently unveiled as the official sponsors of the 2018 Ambassadors Cup Polo Tournament have promised that this year’s event will be bigger and better.

The Ambassadors Cup Polo Tournament which will be held for the third successive year running, will take place at Bushman Rock in Ruwa on Friday the 6th and Saturday the 7th of July.

The tournament is essentially a series of matchups between 8 teams competing in two divisions of fast paced polo with the winners fighting for the prestige of being crowned the “Best Zim Team”.

And this year’s event will be hosted by the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany Dr Thorsten Hutter while featuring the best polo players in Zimbabwe, including the famed Meikle Brothers as well as past and future national team members.

The event will also include an off field battle as the ladies will strut it out for the Best Dressed award.

Polo is a sport which is played with four pony and rider combinations on each side. The polo grounds are at least 200 yards wide with each team consisting of four mounted players, which can be mixed teams of both men and women.
Despite the sport being one of the oldest in the country; having been played locally since the 1890s, it remains relatively unknown to most Zimbabweans.

However, the Ambassadors Cup organisers are currently on a drive to try and bring the sport to a wider audience by holding a series of annual tournaments in the country.
