ZIM teams star on Day 1 of the CUCSA Games

Zimbabwean teams were victorious across various sporting disciplines on day one of the 19th edition of the Confederation Of University And Colleges Sports Association Games (CUCSA) currently underway in Gaborone, Bostwana.

The 19th edition of the Confederation Of University And Colleges Sports Association Games (CUCSA) kicked off on a good note for Zimbabwean teams with most of them recording victories on Monday.

The regional competition covers over 10 sporting disciplines in both men and women categories with rugby and softball making their first appearance in this year’s edition of the games.

Zimbabwe recorded victories in both the men and women’s soccer matches as well as the women’s netball category.

However, the women’s volleyball team were not quite able to replicate the same level of success as they suffered a 3-1 defeat at the hands of the tournament hosts Botswana.

South Africa are the defending Champions having won a total of 31 medals at the previous edition. They have sent a squad of 127 athletes to defend their title team.

South Africa who are taking part in 5 disciplines soccer,volleyball,table tennis, basketball and athletics have so far recorded three wins in two disciplines, soccer and volleyball.
