FC Platinum head coach, Norman Mapeza has insisted his side’s top of the table clash with Ngezi will not determine the outcome of the 2018 Castle Lager Premier Soccer League title race.

The two Platinum sides who sit joint at the top of the Premier League table with 38 points apiece and nine points clear of third placed Highlanders FC square off against each other on Saturday at Ngezi Platinum’s Baobab stadium.
And speaking on Thursday at a press conference ahead of the high profile clash, FC Platinum coach Norman Mapeza has dismissed talk that the winner of the match will be the title favourites.
“It’s going to be a massive game for us, what we need is to have a positive mind and play our normal game,” he said.
“Ngezi have been using their home advantage very well, and even us when we play at home we always try to play to our home advantage.
“But I don’t think the result of this game will determine the title race, the race will still be on regardless of the results. If this was the match before the final match of the season then we would say that but not now.”
Mapeza also spoke out concerning Ngezi Platinum’s alleged dirty tactics of watering their pitch just before games in an effort to make it difficult for their opponents to play properly.
“We are ready for that, we have seen it happening for several times. Everybody knows now that their pitch tends to be muddy (because they water it) but all we have to do is to go there with the proper boots to deal with that. I have spoken to the boys and they know that they need to go there with at least two pairs of proper boots.”
FC Platinum’s in form player, Rodwell Chinyengetere, echoed the same sentiments while adding that the team was ready to fight ahead of the big game.
“We are ready for the pitch, we know they water the pitch but we are going to go there prepared for that. It’s not going to be easy but we are going to fight,” said the midfielder.
