Chiyangwa, 59, secured 3161 votes while his closest competitor Crispen Saidi got 1696 votes. Mrs Tapfumaneyi , Mr S Chabvonga and Ms Zandi Maseko got 643, 319 and 315 respectively.

The current COSAFA and ZIFA boss will now represent the ruling party as Parliamentary candidate for Zvimba South (Mashonaland West province).

Chiyangwa is however, not new in national politics after having been an MP for Chinhoyi before and a provincial chairman.

The outspoken property mogul has vowed to continue in football leadership even if he wins the ticket to go to Parliament.

ZANU-PF primary election reruns started on a low note on Monday, with ballot papers in most constituencies arriving late, a development that saw the polls extended to Tuesday.

In Mashonaland West, reruns were ordered in six constituencies namely Zvimba North, Zvimba South, Makonde, Chegutu West and Chegutu East.
