The much anticipated Harare Derby ended with a twist as Caps United got the better of the Glamour Boys courtesy of a Dynamos loanee Denver Mukamba’s solitary strike at the National Sports Stadium on Sunday.
Heading into the encounter, Dynamos desperately needed a win, as they had drawn 3 and lost 3 of their six outings in the league.
In contrast, Caps United were on a mini-resurgence as they had won 2 and drawn one of their last three encounters.
Yet despite starting out as the lower placed side, Dynamos started the match brightly in the first half and carved out a host of chances but their striker Quality Kangadze ironically lacked the quality to deliver for Dembare.
This further underlined how much of a miss their rogue forward Cameroonian Christian Epoupa has been for the Glamour Boys as they have found goals hard to come by without their talisman.
Caps United improved in the second half and made Dynamos rue their chances when Mukamba struck in the 67th minute to put Makepekepe ahead. The player, on loan from Dynamos after the club had implied they no longer needed him, returned to haunt the Glamour Boys and appeared to rub it in their faces as he celebrated jubilantly after the goal.
The Green Machine ultimately held on for a win which moves them up to 6th on the log while Dynamos languish in 17th place after their seventh game of the season.
