The Europa League semi-final draw is now done and it’s Arsenal who will go head to head with tournament favourites Athletico Madrid in a scintillating clash that promises fireworks.
With Arsenal sitting sixth in the English Premier League their only hope of gaining entry into next season’s Uefa Champions League seem to lie in their ability to win the Europa League.
However, the latest draw presents a huge roadblock to the ambitions of Wenger’s men as they face an Athletico Madrid side that has not been as incompetent domestically, a side that’s sitting 2nd on the La Liga table.
The first legs will be held on 26 April and they are as follows:
Marseille v Red Bull Salzburg
Arsenal v Atletico Madrid.
And on 3 May the teams will play the reverse legs.
