The Mighty Warriors completed the double over Namibia as they beat Namibia 2-0 at Rufaro Sports Stadium on Sunday, after having won by the same result in the first leg in Namibia on Thursday.
The result now see the Zimbabwean ladies move a step closer to qualifying for the 2018 Africa Women’s Championship with only Zambia standing in the way of them making it to the showpiece event.
The result might have been rosy but in actuality the match was a rather tense affair with chances few in the first half as both teams failed to break the deadlock.
It was in the 74th minute that the hosts found an opening with Emmaculate Msipa scoring a fantastic goal to put them ahead.
Eleven minutes later, the Mighty Warriors doubled their lead with Mavis Chirandu putting the game beyond reach for the visitors.
Next up, the Mighty Warriors will now battle it out with their long-time rivals and neighbours Zambia for a spot at the Women’s AFCON finals which will be held in Ghana later this year.
