CAPS Announce Squad As Dembare Players Strike

With the battle lines of the famous Harare Derby having been drawn, Dynamos face a potential banana skin tomorrow when the two giants clash for bragging rights in the ZNA Charity Cup semi final at the National Sports Stadium, with the Green Machine having already released a relatively strong squad on paper for the big game.

The Glamour Boys camp is burning from within amid revelations of structural discord amongst players denting the preparations to the much hyped invitational tournament. The negative development is hinged on the non honouring of promises by the management as the club owes players their dues back dating to January last year.

The Dynamos players have resorted to industrial action and club secretary-general, Webster Marechera confirmed the players’ action, but said they were sorting the problem.

“The players are owed some monies from last season and their January salaries came a bit late. They started receiving them this week. As a result, some of the players refused to train, but others trained. We are in the process of engaging them to see how we can break the impasse so that we can field the best possible squad for the match at the weekend. They have their grievances, but we are doing our best to sort it out,” he said.

Meanwhile, it is business as usual for the Green Machine and the Lloyd Chitembwe led squad has since released the list of players (on their website) who will go to the war room tomorrow.

Chafa’s handler George Deda could not be immediately drawn to comment pertaining the move.

In Bulawayo, Highlanders FC will battle it out with Chicken Inn at Emagumeni on the same day in the other semi final match.
