Rude Awakening for FC Platinum

Norman Mapeza’s rebuilding work ahead of their Champions League competition  looks far from finished after his reshaped FC Platinum team were torn apart by visiting Zambian Champions, ZANACO FC, at Mandava Stadium this afternoon.

ZANACO FC scored four goals to nothing in an International friendly at Mandava Stadium.

The Zambian Champions who had a better share of possession got their opening goal in the 46th minute through Isaac Chanza before Kennedy Musonda score the second eleven minutes later.

As if that was not enough, Felix Nyaende added salt to the already FC Platinum bleeding wound when he netted the third goal for his team in the 65th minute through a spot kick before wrapping up the massacre in the 77th minute to double his goals for the day.

Although FC Platinum had better shots on goal in both halves, precision in front of goals costed them big time. The result was an eye opener for Norman Mapeza and his team as they face the Angolan giants Deportivo Lero Agosto in the next few weeks. If the result is anything to go by, the Zvishavane based side that recently beat Mozambican giants Clube Ferroviario Da Beira by a single goal, needs to pull up their socks before its too late and Mpaeza knows that time is not on his side.

Before facing Angolan side Deportivo Lero Agosto in the preliminary round of the CAF Champions League 2018 edition, FC Platinum are scheduled to meet Zambia’s most successful and popular football club, Nkana FC on the 3rd of March at Mandava stadium as they wrap up their preparations.

The cash rich club boasted their side after signing almost every good player who was on the market. They acquired the services of former Chicken Inn defender Lauzuras Mhlanga, James Mukombwe from army side Black Rhinos among other several local and foreign players.
