With the Green Machine oiling its guns ahead of the 2018 upcoming season, if their pre-season preparations are anything to go by, United appear to be sending a message to their would be rivals that they intend to be firing from all cylinders this year.
The 2016 PSL champions have gone about their transfer business diligently, having already bolstered their squad with the likes of midfielder Leeroy Mavhunga and Brian Chikwenya from Yadah FC on top of returnees Oscar Machapa, Chris Mverechena and Dominic Mukandi.
And as they intensify their preparations for the new season, Makepeke are reported to be heading to Mutare for their pre-season camping where they will engage in a week-long tour of the Manicaland Provincial town.
Upon their return, the Green Machine will do battle with bitter rivals Dynamos in a mouthwatering early Harare derby in the Commanders’ Zimbabwe Defence Forces Charity Cup scheduled for the 18th of February.
Dynamos, on the other hand, have also been gearing up for the new season and they have extended their preparations to beyond borders with the Glamour Boys set to tour Malawi next month from which they will return in time to face Makepekepe.
Dembare have been busy in the transfer window as well, adding a raft of players that include Jimmy Tigere, James Marufu, Raphael Manuvire, Marvelous Mukumba, returnee defender Blessing Moyo and teenager Panashe Mutasa.
However, coach Lloyd Mutasa has been rather ruthless with the new additions coming in as more or less replacements for the likes of King Nasama, Musa Madhiri, Carlos Rusere, Takunda Sadiki and goalkeeper Ashley Reyners who were axed from the club.
The 2018 season is expected to kick off on 10 March.
