Mapeza, Chidzambwa Out, Chitembwe In

Despite leading the Warriors to an impressive run in the COSAFA tournament in South Africa, Sunday Chidzambwa has been stripped off from the Warriors coaching post and Wilson Mutekede and Lloyd Chitembwe has taken over.

Norman Mapeza could not be spared by the axe.


Wilson Mutekede was appointed the ZIFA technical Director in April this year with the mandate to drive ZIFA’s development in all technical aspects of the game. He has been elevate and has been appointed the Warriors interim coach.


Mutekede’s immediate task will be the Lesostho and Namibia assignments on November 8 and 11 respectively. He will be deputised by CAPS United’s Lloyd Chitembwe. Tempo Tshuma has been appointed as the Goalkeepers’coach.

The appointment of Mutekede and Chitembwe put to rest the speculation that Harare City technical director Mark Harison will take over as Warriors coach.
