As CAPS United clear their back log fixtures, defending champions are getting up the ladder by each game, with their latest win catapulting them to the sixth on the log.

It took 77 minutes for Makepekepe to breach the Chipangano stubborn defense but John Zhuwawu’s solitary goal made the all difference.

The visitors were evidently failing to cope with the souring temperatures at the colliery, at one point reaching 39’C.

The hosts were confidently comfortable but failed to convert their chances.

With a little bit of luck, Hwange could have led in the opening stanza but their effort was left at the mercy of woodwork.

At halftime, it was goalless.

The introduction of Cabby Kamhapa on resumption for jittery Moses Muchenje brought some stability for Makepekepe as they launch a series of attack.

Dividends finally paid off in the 77th minute after a neat interchange of passes between wingers Chrispen Machisi and Hardlife Zvirekwi and the latter squared the ball into the box finding a well positioned John Zhuwawu who made no mistake and slaughtered it home.

The home side failed to recover and at full time, the scoreboard read Hwange 0-1 Caps United.

After the match, scorer John Zhuwawu attributed it to team effort.

“Everyone wanted to win and i grateful i scored. Everyone did his part and we win as a team. We now look forward to our next match,” said Zhuwawu.

Meanwhile, Lloyd Mutasa’s Dynamos shot to the summit after fulfilling their match against Chapungu.

The match resumed from the 56th minute with the visitors leading 0-4.

Today, no goals were witnessed as Chapungu minimized the damage.

Emmanuel Mandiranga, Denver Mukamba and Joel Christian Epoupa were on target for Dynamos before the match was called off 3 month ago.

Dynamos will face Bulawayo City at Rufaro stadium at the weekend while Makepekepe will face Ngezi Platinum at Baobab in the Chibuku Super Cup.
