The hosts, having made a flying start to their campaign by beating Madagascar 4-0 in their opening match, came into the match brimming with confidence.
However, they were soon brought down to earth in the 27th minute when Barbara Banda struck to put the Zambians ahead and silence the home crowd.

The match eventually ended 1-1 with the result leaving both nations tied on four points with Zambia having thrashed Malawi 6-3 in the opening fixture.
Malawi are third with three points after their 6-3 thrashing of whipping girls Madagascar in the other Group A match played Friday afternoon.
The Mighty Warriors will now face Malawi in their final group game on Sunday whilst Zambia have a relatively will square off against Madagascar on the same day.
