Finally, A Sigh of Relief For Chitembwe

Beleaguered Caps United head coach, Lloyd Chitembwe, breathed a sigh of relief after his side eventually prevailed over ZPC Kariba on Sunday at the 60,000-capacity National Sports Stadium.

Makepekepe, which had never tasted victory in the last five games would have faced humiliation against the Kariba based team had they shown less application in their first victory in six matches.

The reigning local premier league champions won 1-0 in Sunday’s tie at the National Sports Stadium, but they were given a real run for their money by the visitors.

With only few days to recover from a 3:1 loss at the hands of former Champions, Chicken Inn, the Green Machine got a solitary goal courtesy of Dominic Chungwa in the 62nd minute, which earned them a desperately needed victory, but ZPC Kariba pushed them until the end.

However, the victory did not change the champions’ position on the log, they still remain inside the relegation zone but with six games in hand.

This victory is a sure relief for Chitembwe. It is left to the imagination what the reactions of the Caps United fans would have been, had the team lost again. Confidence is trickling in again among team members and fans. We sure hope they do all that is needful to continue winning this way in the games ahead.
