AL Zamalek Sporting Club president Mortada Mansour has confirmed that a deal in principle has been agreed with Warriors and Mamelodi Sundowns forward Khama Billiat to join the Egyptian Premier League giants in the next season.

The attacking midfielder has long been linked with a move to the Egyptian Premier League but for one reason or another, the signing has taken its time and reports even broke out that Al Ahly SC, Zamalek’s archrivals had previously  tabled an offer to lure the 27-year-old to the Cairo International Stadium.

Ahly have shown interest in the player during the last winter transfer window but a deal collapsed after the Red Devils opted to sign Ivorian striker Souleymane Coulibaly.

Speaking to the Egyptian media on Monday, the Zamalek boss said the onus is on Meet Okba, Giza based club coach, Mohamed Helmi to finalise the deal.

“We received an offer concerning Billiat, but our decision to hire him depends on the opinion of team’s coach Mohamed Helmi,” Mansour told reporters on Monday.

Khama was instrumental in Sundowns triumphant campaign in the Champions League that saw the South African side win their first continental title ever.

The Warriors talisman produced many fine displays in the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations, attracting interests from both continental and international market.

On Sunday, Zamalek sealed a place in the Champions League round of 16 after claiming a 5-3 aggregate win over Nigerian side Enugu Rangers
