The committee is expected to reveal a short message (sms) short code which people, fans included, will use to send messages to three mobile networks predicting the Mighty Warriors results.
The promotion is manned by Telecel Zimbabwe.
Messages will cost 50 cents and everyone who texts automatically enters the competition in which a car will be won. The proceeds of the promotion will be channeled towards Mighty Warriors cause.
Fundraising committee Chairperson Lillian Mbayiwa told Sportbrief after the Mighty Warriors fundraising dinner yesterday that they are looking to launch the product on Friday.
“In the next couple of days we are hoping by Friday, we will be able to launch it,” she said.
Mbayiwa who is Old Mutual’s marketing executive also expressed gratitude to the companies who pledged towards the Mighty Warriors fundraising initiative despite the short notice.
“We are so touched by the support. There are companies that pledged but were not able to attend because it was short notice.
“Over and above those that you see, there were some who actually pledged but said because it was short notice they were not able to get a table,” she said.
“Given more time I think we are able to do more.”
Speaking on behalf of Vice President Phelekezela Mphoko at the dinner, Minister of State for Provincial Affairs in Harare Miriam Chikukwa said, “ As well as this fundraising dinner, the Mighty Warriors Fundrasing committee is also planning a nationwide digital raffle. This will utilize the leading cellular networks to invite the public to support the Mighty Warriors’ preparations for Cameroon by purchasing, via SMS, an entry into a grand draw where they stand to win prizes of considerable value.”
Sportbrief created a theme video for the Mighty Warriors’ journey to Cameroon which was played much to the applause of people who attended the fundraising dinner.
