Mahachi is currently with the national team in Zimbabwe preparing for the 2017 African Cup of Nations qualifier against Malawi at the weekend.
He was outstanding in the 2-0 victory over Uganda in an international friendly match.
Kaizer Chiefs are undergoing major changes in their playing squad at the moment with as many as 20 players who were part of the squad this past season no longer in the plans for the next campaign.
This development has now cleared the path for new comers and according to Kick Off Mahachi has been identified by Chiefs as a target in the offensive attacking midfield position.
The club has placed Sula Matovu – another left-footed attacking midfielder – on transfer after he battled to break into the team this past season.
However, the challenge that Chiefs are facing is that while it is clear that Mahachi was on loan at Golden Arrows last season, there is not much clarity regarding his contract with Mamelodi Sundowns – who stood as the parent club last year.
There appear to still be certain conditions on Mahachi’s contract – concluded when he was represented by a different agent to the one he has now – but what stands is that Chiefs have made inquiries and made their interest known.
Mahachi battled to make much of an impact in his first year at Chloorkop which then led to him being moved out this past season to Arrows, where he made 22 appearances, scoring four goals and four assists.
