Caps United captain, Method Mwanjali who is under police custody after being nabbed by police details on assault charges in the wee hours of Sunday morning was yesterday remanded in custody pending bail hearing today when he appeared at the Harare Magistrates’ Court, while Archford Gutu was freed on $100 bail, information gathered by this publication can reveal.
Mwanjali, together with his accomplice Archford Gutu are accused of assault, with the former being jointly charged of attempted murder and malicious damage to property after he stabbed the complainant twice in the stomach and broke his (complainant’s) car’s windscreen.
Gutu has however been freed on $100 bail, and according to a close source privy to the proceedings, the former Dynamos player is only charged with assault.
The Makepekepe duo will appear again in court this morning where they are expected to continue defending themselves.
The complainant is reported to have received medical attention at Parirenyatwa hospital and is believed to be in a stable condition.
Mwanjali is being legally represented by advocate Luis Uriri and TK Hove, who are both legal advisers and practitioners by profession.
