Billiat’s Ankle Injury A Blow To Sundowns

Mamelodi Sundowns will be without some key stars when they take on MTN8 champions Ajax Cape Town in the Absa Premiership on Wednesday.

The fixture at the Lucas Moripe Stadium is a chance for Sundowns to reverse some poor recent form against the side who currently sit top of the league table.

But coach Pitso Mosimane will likely be without some key individuals, including former Ajax forward Khama Billiat.

The Zimbabwe international has been diagnosed with a Grade 2 ankle injury and is a serious doubt for the game against his former employers.

Anthony Laffor is another major doubt as he battles with a hip injury picked up while on national team duty with Liberia earlier this month.

The same goes for defender Thabo Nthethe, who had just recovered from a groin strain, only to collect a hip problem himself.

Definitely missing are long-term injury casualty Lindokuhle Mbatha and midfielder Bongani Zungu, who is suspended.

Sundowns are currently languishing in 10th in the table with just a single victory from their four matches this season, They were also ousted in the quarterfinals of the MTN8 by Bloemfontein Celtic.
