The match had remained tied 1-1 in regulation time after substitute Rodreck Mutuma had thrust the Premier Soccer League giants ahead at the stroke of full time before Tinei Chitora scored from the penalty spot in added time after referee Pedzisai Chadya adjudged that a Dynamos player had handled inside the penalty area.
Dynamos, however, finished the match with 10 men after Obey Mwerahari was red-carded for remonstrating with the referee over the penalty decision.
Dynamos had goalkeer Tatenda Mukuruva, who came in as a second half substitute for coach Tonderai Ndiraya, to thank as he saved Chitora’s penalty in the dreaded shootout.

Dynamos scored their goals from the spot through Augustine Mbara, Sidney Linyama, Takesure Chinyama and Mutuma, who converted the winning penalty, while Kelvin Bulaji missed his spot kick.
The Defence Forces Select side, coached by Chapungu gaffer John Nyikadzino, scored through Brighton Chandisaita and Hillary Mugoniwa, while Allan Tavarwisa and Chitora missed theirs.
Dynamos were handed $9 000 cash for winning the trophy, while the Defence Forces Select side got $7 000.
