Buffaloes pulled one back through Jacob Muzokomba on 66th minute.
Harare City assistant coach Mike Madziva said he was happy that they managed to beat their bogey side who have beaten them five times in their past seven meetings, while Buffaloes coach Saul Chaminuka blamed the thrashing on poor defending by his team.
Meanwhile, Chicken Inn faces unpredictable Hwange in the Chibuku Super Cup first round at Luveve Stadium this afternoon. The GameCocks will be out for revenge as Chipangano beat them 1-0 in the league.
In another afternoon encounter, PSL’S reigning champions Dynamos will battle it out with WhaWha at Rufaro Stadium. Newly promoted Dynamos gaffer, Tonderai Ndiraya will lead his charges against Lloyd Mutasa’s WhaWha in the Chibuku Super Cup first round showdown, a match he cannot afford to lose.
Tomorrow, Bulawayo giants Highlanders will be in a tricky encounter against goal miners, How Mine. Highlanders bundled out the gold miners with a 3-1 win at Hartsfield Rugby Grounds last year in the quarter-finals of the Chibuku Super Cup.
