WARRIORS coach Kalisto Pasuwa has reshuffled the team that played in the first leg of the Chan qualifier against the Comoros a week ago, with Hwange forward Evans Rusike, who scored one of the goals in the 2-0 victory, and Dynamos midfielder Ronald Chitiyo being the notable absentees from the team that will make the trip this week.
Dynamos goalkeeper Tatenda Mukuruva, Buffaloes’ Liberty Chakoroma, FC Platinum midfielder Wisdom Mutasa, Hwange goalkeeper Takabva Mawaya and Highlanders striker Thomas Chideu have also been left out of the team.
Chicken Inn’s Divine Lunga, who got injured in the first leg, is also out of the team as he is still nursing an injury while Hwange forward Pritchard Mpelele is expected to be redeployed as a replacement as makeshift leftback.
But Marshall Mudehwe, scorer of one of the goals, has been retained. The Warriors gaffer has however called up Harare City goalkeeper Tatenda Munditi, Chicken Inn striker Edmore Chirambadare, who did not take part in the first leg because his passport had expired, and his team mate Lawrence Mhlanga, Tsholotsho’s Gerald Takwara who did not make the final squad for the previous match also bounces back.
Warriors team manager Shariff Mussa said the coaches made the changes as some players like Mutasa had gone for trials while others are staying behind with their respective clubs ahead of the weekend league games.
“There are some changes to the team that played in the first leg. Some players have either gone for trials or are with their clubs. The coach has named a squad of 20 players. They are getting into camp tonight (last night) and training will start tomorrow (this morning). We are still waiting to hear from Zifa on the travel arrangements,’ said Mussa.
The Warriors need a draw to qualify to the second round and can even afford to lose 1-0 and still advance to the next round.
Zifa has submitted their travel plan to Government for the trip as they have no money and need a chartered place. They have been charged $114 900 by Air Zimbabwe if they leave on Thursday and return on Sunday.
They have been quoted $83 000 if they depart on Friday and returned 24 hours later after the match.
