Dynamos head coach David ‘Yogi’ Mandigora says going in for yet another Independence Cup final is an honour for the Harare giants who will stop at nothing to fulfill their hopes of landing an 8th title.
A 2-nil victory over ZPC Kariba in Wednesday’s semi-final gave 7-time Independence Cup champions Dynamos another chance to fight for the prestigious silverware.
After surrendering the trophy which they last won in 2013 to FC Platinum in penalties last year, Mandigora says Saturday’s final gives his team another chance to enter the history books.
“We are ready for FC Platinum. We will treat that match as a new game altogether and forget about what happened last year. We want to become the known champions for this trophy,” said Mandigora.
DeMbare share the 7-time Independence Trophy winners’ title with Bulawayo giants Highlanders while FC Platinum has lifted the Uhuru cup twice in their four year flirtation in the topflight.
The platinum miners arguably one of the most consistent clubs in recent years bagged three trophies last season alone – the Chibuku Super Cup, the Independence Trophy and the ZNA Charity Shield presenting them as a tough opposition for the Glamour Boys.
